Cristiano Ronaldo hints at retirement, says 2026 World Cup will be his last

Portuguese football legend Cristiano Ronaldo hints at retirement, saying that the 2026 FIFA World Cup will be his final appearance on the international stage. The world-famous player revealed his future plans in a recent interview, sharing that he wants to spend more time with his family after ending his professional football career.

During the interview, Ronaldo jokingly said that “soon” could mean 10 years, but he quickly added that he was only joking. He explained that he is still enjoying football and performing well, but as players get older, time seems to move faster.

Ronaldo further mentioned that he expects to retire within one or two years. He said he feels great physically, is still scoring goals, and maintains his speed and energy. However, he admitted that the time for retirement is getting closer, and he is mentally preparing for that phase of life.

The Portuguese star confirmed that the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico will be his last international tournament. He noted that he will be 41 years old by then and has already spent more than 25 years in football, achieving almost everything and setting many records along the way.

Although he plans to retire soon, Ronaldo recently extended his contract with Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr until 2027. This means fans may still see him play at the club level for a little longer, even after the Cristiano Ronaldo hints at retirement news made headlines around the world.
